Palin is Back – Biden Makes Up “Facts” in VP debate

Over the past few weeks there have been a few interviews, most notably with Katie Couric, where Governor Palin seemed uncomfortable, over rehearsed, over coached and simply not the governor we were all introduced to in her Vice Presidential speech in St. Paul 5 weeks ago. There were many McCain supporters who were quietly, or in come cases forcefully, questioning her pick.

In the Vice Presidential debate, the old Sarah Palin that America originally fell in love with returned.

She began by seeming a bit nervous and initially gave a few obviously rehearsed answers, but as the debate wore on she began to gain confidence, stopped giving rehearsed answers, spoke directly to Joe Biden and the American people.

There was also a change in Biden’s demeanor as the debate progressed. He began smirking more, nervously laughing, and getting more agitated. Biden did an admirable job in explaining his issues and those of Obama’s, however he consistently mischaracterized his ticket’s positions and John McCain’s votes. In some cases he flat out lied:

- Biden said Obama would not meet with Ahmadinejad without preconditions. Everyone knows Obama said this publically: video

-95% of people will get a tax break when 40% already don’t pay taxes!

-When Palin questioned Obama’s judgment when he voted to increase taxes on anyone making over 42k a year Biden said McCain voted the same way. Definitely not true.

-He said McCain also voted against funding the troops when in fact he voted against a time line.

-Biden said he is not against clean coal when there is video all over the internet of him saying that he is against it.

-Biden said McCain was against reforms on Freddie and Fannie when in fact it was McCain who proposed a senate bill asking for reforms.

-Biden said that McCain is against alternate energy when McCain had consistently advocated an “all of the above” strategy to gaining energy independence.

-This is just a few of many

Many of the political pundits after the debate were saying that Palin did an admirable job but Biden won because he beat her on the facts! There were headlines like “Biden wins on substance” or “Biden out debates Palin with facts.” If these people believe that Biden’s biggest strength in the debate was his recitation of the facts then clearly he had a very bad night. His entire performance was full of lies and mischaracterizations. The unfortunate aspect of this debate is that many voters will take what Biden said as truth and that his confident delivery showed his command of the issues.

The good news is that Palin was strong, patriotic, and came across as much less political than Joe Biden. It was nice to see the original Sarah Palin return to this campaign. Hopefully the facts will continue to come out about Obama and Biden’s record so that the American voters will know the true political positions of these men.

Do also note that while most news media, liberals, democrats had wrongfully belittled Sarah Palin’s association with Pentecostal Christianity, this actually next gave her more publicity, exposure and better still even next more support from many Christians. Not what the demons had expected or hope for for sure. The bashing of her religion was clearly a great mistake on their parts. Obama wishes he got so much coverage now as well..
